Adaptive learning paths

Most awareness training is broadcast: the entire workforce receives the same content on the same schedule. This is administratively convenient and pedagogically wasteful. Employees who repeatedly fail phishing simulations receive the same content as employees who have never failed; employees in high-risk roles receive content designed for the average risk profile.

TrendTech's adaptive learning surfaces modules based on each employee's risk profile — derived from simulation outcomes, assessment performance, role-segment risk weighting, and tenure. Higher-risk profiles see more frequent modules with progressively challenging content; lower-risk profiles see refresher content on a longer cadence.

We have built the adaptive layer to default to cohort-level segmentation rather than individual personalisation, in recognition of the works-council and privacy concerns that arise when training platforms build individual behavioural dossiers. Individual-level personalisation is available as an opt-in setting per tenant.

The pedagogy underneath the adaptive layer is built on spacing-effect research — modules surface at intervals calibrated to optimise retention rather than at calendar-driven intervals. Where required by regulatory compliance, the platform also supports calendar-mode delivery; clients use both.
